A customer has reported that with RangeeOS 13, a Lenovo L560 no longer shuts down completely. All LEDs are off, but the notebook cannot be turned on again. Powering on is only possible after pressing and holding the power button for several seconds. | |
||
This problem also appears to affect other notebooks and manufacturers with current Ubuntu kernels ([[https:~~/~~/askubuntu.com>>https://askubuntu.com/questions/1512393/ubuntu-24-04-lts-does-not-wake-up-or-repond-after-being-idle-for-some-time]]). Examples of affected devices: | |
||
* Dell Inspiron Laptop 15R 5537 | |
* HP EliteBook 840 G5 | |
* HP EliteBook 840 G8 | |

= Cause = | |
||
The cause of the problem is the Intel IOMMU function (Input-Output Memory Management Unit). This function is responsible for virtualizing memory access and can lead to problems during the shutdown process in certain configurations. | |
||
= Solution = | |
||
As a workaround, the Intel IOMMU function can be disabled. To do this, proceed as follows: | |
||
1. Navigate to **System** -> **Bootloader** | |
1. Enter the following under **Custom Kernel Parameter**: | |
intel_iommu=off | |
1. Restart the device for the change to take effect | |
||
After rebooting, the shutdown should work properly again.
